After a distinguished career as a public servant at the rank of minister, Assefa Abraha Hagos is now enjoying success in the private sector. The founder and chairman of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia-based Wellaba Business & Consultancy Services, Assefa Abraha Hagos serves as representative of London-based investment firm Vasari Global Limited in the African market and played a leading role in the establishment of the Ahadukes Food Products manufacturing plant in Bishoftu.
Located about 50 kilometers southeast of Addis Ababa, the food manufacturing plant is a joint venture of Vasari and Ethiopian firm Ahadu. Vasari invested $36 million in what is the first phase of a planned $150 million investment program. The state-of-the art plant began operations in 2015 producing international quality biscuits under the Ahadu brand and caters to all market segments from children to adults, serving both local and international markets.
The facility will eventually produce other flour-based products such as pasta and will employ over a hundred people. Vasari is also committed, in partnership with local groups and the Ethiopian government, to create empowering social programs for the local community.
